News regarding WWE’s decision to book Joe Hendry as Randy Orton’s opponent at WrestleMania 41

As seen during the WWE WrestleMania 41 Sunday PLE, TNA world champion Joe Hendry was Randy Orton’s mystery opponent but ended up losing the match.

According to Fightful.com, Hendry is still under a TNA contract and people within TNA said that they found out about the match just prior to WrestleMania. It was added that WWE “had approached Hendry by the time of Kevin Owens’ announcement. His deal is up within the next year and he got representation.”

According to Cory of PWNexus, both Hendry and Jeff Hardy were pitched to be Orton’s opponent. Cory also stated the following…

“Solo Sikoa was never considered to be Randy Orton’s opponent. And contrary to a report, there were never alternate plans for Solo Sikoa to be special guest referee in the main event match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena.”
