News regarding WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk’s declining health prior to his death

WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk passed away last week at the age of 79.

It was reported in 2021 that Funk was living in an assisted living facility for those dealing with dementia. In regards to Funk’s declining health prior to his death, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that Funk’s dementia had gotten worse in recent months.

Meltzer stated the following…

“His family kept secret about his condition for the most part and what his ailment was, but some of those closest to him were aware that he went into hospice care a few months ago.”

According to Meltzer, it was known that Funk didn’t have much time to live. Meltzer added that Funk had been in poor health ever since he had surgery for a hernia in 2016. Funk was told by his doctor to rest in bed for two weeks after the surgery but he opted to fulfill his commitments to Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore promotion. After flying to the shows, Funk was said to have been in “excruciating pain” and doctors weren’t able to fix the problems that resulted.

Funk had also been dealing with knee and back issues for decades.
