News regarding “The Big Show” Paul Wight’s status with AEW in 2026

Sources in AEW confirmed to Fightful.com that “The Big Show” Paul Wight’s contract in the company was coming up earlier in 2026. However, it is believed that he agreed to a new deal to keep him with the AEW. It’s unknown how long the deal is at this point, but he is believed to be firmly under contract.

While speaking to Virgin Radio UK, Wight commented on his status in the wrestling business…

“I don’t have to do much at this stage of the game. I’m not competing for championships. I’m not pulling the wagon and working every week.

I have a great opportunity with All Elite Wrestling, which has been very important to me, to help mentor some of the younger talent when they want it, tell them stories that might help them avoid some of life’s troubles, and do commentary where I can help explain what they’re doing while also helping develop their characters.

Then I can get in the ring, because there are things I know I can do while working with them that will help them.

And it’s fun for me, because I don’t have to do much.”
