News regarding Sasha Banks being pulled from Summerslam and being replaced by Becky Lynch
Sasha Banks was originally scheduled to compete against Bianca Belair for the Smackdown women’s title at the 2021 WWE Summerslam PPV but was pulled from the match after missing multiple WWE events.
According to Fightful.com, people within WWE confirmed that Sasha was not cleared to wrestle but the company is hopeful that she will be back soon. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that as of last weekend, WWE knew Sasha wouldn’t be able able to compete in the title match. Despite this, the company advertised Sasha for the PPV right up until when the match was supposed to start.
Becky Lynch, who replaced Sasha in the match and won the title from Bianca, was reportedly going to return around the time of the 2022 draft. Due to the circumstances, WWE brought Becky back early and Steve Carrier of RingsideNews.com wrote the following…
Becky Lynch made her big #SummerSlam return, but that wasn't in the orginal plan. They initially didn't have her return slated until October.
Her booking was "last minute" and it was decided on after they realized that Sasha Banks couldn't work the show.
