News regarding Ridge Holland announcing his “retirement” from wrestling during WWE NXT

As seen during the March 26th 2024 edition of WWE NXT, Ridge Holland announced that he is stepping away “indefinitely” from wrestling. Over the past couple of years, Holland has received criticism for legitimately breaking Big E’s neck. WWE turned the situation into a storyline when Holland “injured” NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov.

Fightful Select noted the following regarding Holland’s announcement…

“NXT sources have confirmed to Corey Brennan of Fightful Select that this is part of Holland’s current storyline and is not an official retirement. The story has been one that Holland has been motivated to do, with the former Brawling Brute being receptive to suggestions.”

Holland’s profile has been moved to the alumni section of WWE.com to sell the retirement angle.
