News regarding another “major acquisition” joining AEW

In addition to his recent AAA TripleMania appearance, Ric Flair is also scheduled for an upcoming NWA PPV event.

As previously noted, it’s believed that Flair had no non-compete clause in his contract when WWE released him. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that there might be a time frame where Flair can’t appear on AEW television but can work for other promotions.

Meltzer wrote the following regarding the matter…

“Sources close to the promotion that would be alerted to such things also noted a new major AEW acquisition is coming on the heels of the deals for CM Punk and Bryan Danielson.”

In addition to Flair, there has been speculation about Bray Wyatt and/or Braun Strowman heading to AEW when their non-compete clauses expire. Strowman’s non-compete ends several days before the All Out PPV.

Strowman also tweeted the following on Friday which some fans have interpreted as a reference to Chicago with the “deep dish” pizza line…
