New details regarding WWE and NJPW possibly having a partnership

As previously noted, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com reported that WWE President Nick Khan has been in talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling about having WWE as an exclusive partner in the United States.

In an update, Meltzer noted that “according to those close to the negotiations, this was not a Nick Khan idea at first, but he’s been the point man in the mix and there are those who believe he has recommended to Vince McMahon to pursue it.” It was said that at first, the idea had nothing to do with “screwing” AEW. Meltzer added the idea was likely going to be something involving the NXT brand that would have benefited both sides.

In regards to Daniel Bryan reportedly being part of the early discussions, Meltzer stated that Bryan hasn’t been part of any recent talks.

The belief is that NJPW won’t agree to a deal unless it’s “extremely beneficial” to them. WWE has also been in talks with NJPW with nothing materializing but the circumstances are different now with Nick Khan being involved.
