Mercedes Mone teases a match against Bayley for the AEW women’s world title

As seen at AEW Forbidden Door 2026, Mercedes Mone won the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament for a second straight year. Following the match, Mercedes took to her Instagram Stories to tease a potential showdown with WWE star Bayley at AEW WrestleDream 2026.

The teaser came in the form of a fan-made graphic that listed Bayley under her former ring name, ‘Davina Rose,’ while also portraying Mercedes as the AEW women’s world champion. Mercedes currently does not hold the title but will be challenging for it at All In: London.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet in April of 2025, Bayley noted that she had “a year and a half left“ on her WWE contract which would put her deal’s expiration right around October. The date and location for WrestleDream have not yet been announced, although the event has traditionally been held in October. Whether Bayley would have any interest in or contractual ability to join AEW remains unknown.
