Kofi Kingston issues statement regarding his ankle injury
As previously noted, WWE announced that Kofi Kingston was pulled from the #1 contender match for an Intercontinental title shot at Wrestlemania 39 after suffering an injury.
On Thursday night, Kingston revealed that he would be having ankle surgery in Birmingham, AL. Kingston wrote the following on Saturday morning via Instagram…
“Surgery went very well! Of course I had to FaceTime the boyzzz upon regaining consciousness…Very little recollection of the conversation, lol. Thanks to everybody who sent me a message! I appreciate it more than you know! I’m home now. Let the road to recovery begin!”
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that there was an idea at one point for The New Day to reunite at Wrestlemania 39. Meltzer wrote, “We had heard of an idea for Big E to be at Wrestlemania and the three of them would come out together if that would be the right thing to do and if E could come back soon.”
