Jake Roberts says he would “fire about half” of the WWE roster if he was in charge

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts did an interview with longtime wrestling reporter Bill Apter and here are the highlights…

Apter: “A lot of people today, of course, are all bitching and moaning about the business, saying it’s not what it used to be. I agree. When you watch it, what screams out at you?”

Roberts: “A lack of characters, and guys are wasting so much. They need to go back to simple wrestling. Not so much high-flying. If you’re going to do something high-flying, make it count.”

Apter: “A lot of the matches right now are a lot shorter. There’s a lot more commercials and everything. So, if you were sitting at the booking desk at WWE, what’s the first thing you would change?”

Roberts: “Fire about half of them.”

Apter: “Would you really?”

Roberts: “Yes, I would. Just keep the guys who can actually wrestle. Those are the ones I would keep.”

Apter: “Is there anyone in particular you’ve seen in the past few years that makes you think, “That guy could be something if they did the right thing with him?”

Roberts: “There’s a couple of guys in AEW I was real fond of. But I haven’t really watched much in the last year, so it’s unfair for me to say.”

Apter: “Tell me what it’s like working for Tony Khan.”

Roberts: “Love it. I just finished up working for him. I’m no longer employed by AEW. He is awesome. He really is a breath of fresh air.”
