Former WWE star says he “would’ve gotten fired” if he didn’t accept move from the main roster to NXT

During an appearance on Between Two Jobs with Duke Hanson, former WWE star Sidney Akeem aka Reggie discussed his transition from the main roster back to NXT, including conversations he had with WWE officials about making the move…

“Whenever that switch happened between Vince [McMahon] and Triple H, that’s when I came back to NXT. [What was that conversation?] “It wasn’t. I tried to have a conversation with someone. I had a conversation with him, trying to reinvent myself because we knew that the 24/7 stuff was going down the drain.

I’m like, ‘I have this idea, this character with the mask and this and that. Rey Mysterio’s on board, and it’ll be super cool.’ Then he said, ‘All right.’ He was looking at me as I was talking to him, but he wasn’t listening.”

So I left the conversation, left the room thinking, ‘That was a waste. That didn’t get anything or go anywhere.’ Then I got a message from John Cone saying, ‘Hey, we’re thinking about sending you back to NXT. How do you feel about that?’ I said, ‘Cool.’ That was it. I wasn’t going to say no. I would’ve gotten fired.”
