Former Ring of Honor owner says the brand “is not being treated very well” under the Tony Khan regime
During John Arezzi’s Mat Memories from Madison Square Garden podcast, former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin and wrestling historian Evan Ginzburg discussed ROH since AEW President Tony Khan bought the company. Here were the comments made…
Ginzburg: “Thousands and thousands of matches and some of the greatest matches I ever saw was at Ring of Honor – Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson. I want to thank Cary. That was Dory Funk, Jr-Jack Brisco level, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair level. Danielson and Nigel, that was wrestling elevated to art. I wish they had the worldwide showcase that Danielson later got in WWE and AEW because they deserved it. Those were unbelievable matches.”
Silkin: “Ring of Honor of that era tried to show some respect to professional wrestling. Sure we had some wacky stuff. Sure we had the the flippy dippy do was coming into fashion. The flippy dippy do was going on with Édouard Carpentier too…Ring of Honor, there was some good pro wrestling going on in that segment of it. Right now, Ring of Honor it’s like no one cares at all. I don’t care how much money Tony Khan has. It’s not being treated very well.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
