Drew McIntyre reportedly dealing with legitimate neck issues

As seen during the WWE Day 1 2021 premium live event, Drew McIntyre was attacked backstage by Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss. In storyline terms, WWE wrote that McIntyre “suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions. Upon further evaluation by medical staff he will have a follow-up with an orthopedic cervical specialist.”

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, the angle was done because McIntyre is dealing with legitimate neck issues that need to be addressed. Johnson noted the following…

“There is no word how long McIntyre could be out of action, but the hope among those we’ve spoken with is that it will end up being a short-term in-ring hiatus. Until McIntyre gets checked out, it’s ‘up in the air,’ according to one source.”

It was also pointed out that McIntyre has been dealing with the injury for the several weeks and worked through it at live events without holding back.
