Cody Rhodes reportedly voiced his opinion to WWE that fans would not handle Wrestlemania 40 change well

As previously noted, WWE has received negative feedback over The Rock taking Cody Rhodes’ spot against Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40 and various mainstream news outlets including TMZ have covered the situation.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com posted the following regarding the situation via Twitter/X…

“Sources within WWE say that Cody is a company man and has long respected WWE’s decision making, but claim Cody actually voiced that the thought the audience wouldn’t react well to the change in creative direction for Mania before last Friday.”

When asked if Cody was the only person that voiced his opinion, Sapp noted that Cody “absolutely wasn’t the only one.”

Via Twitter/X, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com wrote the following…

“My buddy Jay told me that since his tweets are private I probably should note that the idea that Paul Levesque (Triple H) didn’t know about Rock’s signing with the company and him wrestling Reigns when he booked the Rumble is clearly not the case. He knew exactly what he was doing.”

Twitter/X account @WrestleVotes also noted the following in regards to WWE’s reaction…

“I am told the ‘Rocky Sucks’ chants that took place last night on RAW totally threw certain people off. While this ‘viral reaction’ story was leaned into last night, that part of it was something unexpected.”
