CM Punk believed to have been working under two contracts with AEW prior to his departure

As previously noted, AEW terminated the contract of CM Punk following his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at the All In PPV event.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Punk had been working directly with AEW President Tony Khan on the creative aspect of Collision prior to his departure. Meltzer stated the following…

“The belief was that Punk had two contracts, one being a pro wrestling contract and another being an employee contract, was that it was a way for the company to cover full insurance, although nobody officially confirmed that or what his job title entailed.”

It’s still unknown if Punk’s deal had a non-compete clause. Meltzer noted that for a WWE contract, there is a standard one-year non-compete for a party that is terminated with cause.
