Backstage news regarding the WWE departures of R-Truth and Carlito

Over the weekend, R-Truth announced that he has been released from WWE. In addition to R-Truth, Carlito also confirmed that he is leaving the company.

In regards to why R-Truth and Carlito are leaving the company, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that as new talent from NXT joins the main roster, older undercard wrestlers or those underutilized are most likely to be phased out. Meltzer also stated the following…

“They’re numbers. They’re looking at the numbers, and they’re looking at how many do we have to cut, or how much money do we have to cut? And those were the picks. Those were the Levesque [Triple H] picks. And that’s what it is. I don’t think they lose anything by losing Carlito. R-Truth is really funny.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)

PWInsider.com noted that as word made the rounds about R-Truth’s WWE departure being legitimate, the response from those in the company was absolutely a feeling of disbelief. A few wondered if Truth had been offered another role such as that of an ambassador similar to Titus O’Neil’s role.

A WWE talent commented to PWInsider that it made them feel as if “nothing is guaranteed.” Another talent stated that Truth’s departure made them want to make sure their next contract with the company was negotiated and locked in “well in advance.”
