Backstage news regarding the fallout from Jon Moxley suffering a concussion at AEW Dynamite

As seen during the September 20th 2023 “Grand Slam” edition of AEW Dynamite, Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to capture the International title after Moxley suffered a concussion during the pre-match brawl.

According to Fightful Select, AEW had to change plans for the WrestleDream PPV event due to the injury. A non-AEW wrestler was reportedly going to challenge Moxley for the title at WrestleDream but at this time, it’s unknown who that wrestler was supposed to be.

Fightful also noted the following regarding Rick Knox who was the referee for the match…

“We were contacted by several talent on the roster that said while they like Rick Knox, there was heavy heat on him within the company, as this wasn’t the first time something like this has happened and a wrestler wasn’t protected.”

Moxley must pass AEW’s concussion protocols before he is allowed to wrestle again.
