Backstage news regarding Johnny Gargano’s return to WWE television

As seen during the August 22nd edition of WWE RAW, Johnny Gargano made his surprise return to the company after a nine-month absence.

It was noted by Fightful Select that Gargano’s name wasn’t listed on any rundown sheets in order to keep his appearance a secret. It was said that many people at RAW didn’t know Gargano was there until a few minutes before he made his entrance.

It’s believed that WWE continued to show interest in Gargano during his free agent period and respected his desire to take time off. Fightful stated the following regarding other companies…

“We haven’t heard of any advanced negotiations between Gargano and All Elite Wrestling, and were told that IMPACT Wrestling was never a serious consideration. AEW sources when asked told us they didn’t believe that Gargano was going to end up coming into the company throughout this year, though he did have several people in the company pushing for him.”

Gargano wrote the following regarding his return to WWE…

“I told ya I wanted it to be a legit surprise!
