Here are a few backstage news items from January 6th 2023 edition of WWE Smackdown via Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com…
* Vince McMahon was not backstage and Triple H ran the event. Johnson added that there didn’t appear to be any meeting with wrestlers about the return of Vince.
* William Regal was backstage and it was the first WWE event he has attended since officially returning to the company. As previously noted, Regal won’t be able to appear on television for the next year as a condition for Tony Khan allowing him to leave AEW.
* Bray Wyatt did not appear on the show and Johnson reported that Wyatt wasn’t backstage. LA Knight ended up cutting a brief promo to hype up the “Pitch Black” match at the 2023 Royal Rumble PLE.
