AJ Styles doesn’t want Sami Zayn to be a “transitional” WWE Champion
Sami Zayn is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes on the July 6th 2026 edition of WWE RAW in Chicago. While speaking on his podcast, AJ Styles addressed Zayn potentially having a short reign…
“I don’t want to see Sami as a transitional champion. I think Sami’s more than capable of pulling off being a world champion and fully embracing the underdog role.
I don’t know what the next part of the story is, though. The great thing about that is it’s a good thing because it keeps me interested in what’s going to happen in the buildup to SummerSlam.
I’m not so sure what’s going to happen, and you’ve got people worried that Sami is just going to be a transitional champion—that he’s going to win it just to lose it to, you know, who knows.
I don’t think that’s the best way to go about this storyline. I think there’s some magic to be made, and I wish I was smart enough to figure it out.”
