AEW star Swerve Strickland addresses Travis Scott hurting Cody Rhodes at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE

As seen during the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE, John Cena officially turned heel against Cody Rhodes and “sold his soul” to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It was reported that Cody possibly suffered a busted ear drum at the hands of rapper Travis Scott during the attack.

While speaking on The Bootleg Kev podcast, AEW star Swerve Strickland addressed Scott hurting Cody…

“That’s a very excited artist who finally got to do his dream, you know what I mean? You’re in there, and you’re in there with the two biggest icons that we have left…that’s ever done it. So of course, you’re excited, and you’re with the world champion. So this is the guy that’s gonna be the one for this era moving forward. So that’s a lot of excitement, that’s a lot of pressure, and that’s what happens when you get excited with someone who’s not in our industry. It’s an exciting moment. It’s like, what the hell would we do if a wrestler got on the stage? They would do dumb sh*t too on a concert. But that’s not industry etiquette. So it’s just a crossover thing. He doesn’t know.”

“I don’t believe [they went over it beforehand]. I feel like they wanted that so they could feel natural. Sometimes, you want just a natural reaction from other people outside of wrestling. You want them to just be natural, just flow and feel because then it’ll feel real. But sometimes, that stuff happens, and it’s like, ah, too far. Too much. I don’t know. I was on the golf course with Travis not that long ago. He didn’t know that was coming, but he was telling me, ‘I’m excited man, I’m training with Booker T. This is gonna be wild.’ He was more wanting to talk about wrestling than he wanted to talk about music. So he was excited. I’m like, oh, cool, he’s excited. Just make sure you take care of yourself and others.” (quotes courtesy of WrestleZone.com)
