AEW President Tony Khan reveals who he thinks is “the greatest wrestling star of all time”

During an interview with Z100 New York, AEW President Tony Khan was asked which wrestler (dead or alive) he would sign if given the opportunity…

“Steve Austin. If you could get Steve Austin in the ’90s and just have him for that decade, he’s the greatest ever. He’s also a great human—I love Steve Austin. He was very nice to me. I haven’t seen him in a long time, but he was kind enough to have me on his show after the original Double or Nothing.

I’m one of the biggest fans of his, and I think Steve Austin is the biggest wrestling star of all time. If you could pick any era and just have Steve Austin throughout the ’90s—even with his persona evolving from Stunning Steve, to Superstar Steve, to The Ringmaster, to Stone Cold Steve Austin—he’s still one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

If I had ever been fortunate enough to work with any version of Steve Austin, particularly in the ’90s or early 2000s, I would count myself very lucky. Honestly, I already consider myself fortunate just to have met him and had a nice chat. He was very positive about the original Double or Nothing. I did his show after the first Double or Nothing in 2019, over six years ago, and he was incredibly supportive of the show.

I’ll say it again: I think Steve Austin is the greatest wrestling star of all time.”
