A former IWGP heavyweight champion has reportedly signed with WWE
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, WWE has signed former IWGP heavyweight champion EVIL. While there had been rumors about his destination for months, PWInsider can now confirm that he is officially working for WWE.
EVIL, whose real name is Takaaki Watanabe, rose to prominence in NJPW. EVIL, 39, debuted in 2011 and later had an extended run in the United States with Ring of Honor, along with appearances in Global Force Wrestling.
According to sources in Japan, the expectation is that he will not retain the EVIL ring name in WWE.
