A few key figures in WWE reportedly “hated” the creative direction of segment from Smackdown on 9/6/24

As seen during the September 6th 2024 edition of WWE Smackdown, Giovanni Vinci made his first in-ring appearance on Smackdown since his character was repackaged. However, Vinci was quickly pinned by Apollo Crews as he was taking off his ring attire.

Twitter/X account @WrestleVotes wrote, “I’m told there are a few ‘key’ figures within creative that absolutely hated the direction on the Giovanni Vinci angle.”

It appears that Vinci’s storyline with Crews will continue. Following the match, Vinci cut a backstage promo on Apollo that WWE published to social media…

“When is the last time you’ve seen a match get without the referee checking both competitors if they’re ready. I haven’t seen it either. So Apollo wants to come up behind me, clearly, I still have half my entrance gear on, and roll me up, if he wants to play that way, alright. We can play that way.
