Brock Lesnar interferes in John Cena vs. Sami Zayn match on WWE SmackDown

As seen during the September 5th 2025 edition of WWE SmackDown in Chicago, new United States champion Sami Zayn challenged John Cena to a title match on the show. Cena accepted and the two men had a competitive match. Cena paid tribute to Kurt Angle by using an Angle slam and ankle lock. Cena also delivered a GTS and spear but Zayn kicked out.

The match ended with Brock Lesnar interfering and attacking both men with F5s. After the segment, Cena vs. Lesnar was officially confirmed for the 2025 Wrestlepalooza PLE.
