Shawn Michaels admits that WWE NXT has been “scrambling a lot” due to main roster call-ups

While appearing on Busted Open Radio, WWE NXT’s Shawn Michaels discussed the brand having to adjust its plans due to main roster call-ups. Here is what Michaels had to say…

“There are certain things in this business that in the real world, throws everybody for a loop and and it throws us for a loop too. You just learn not to sell too much and understand that those things are going to happen. So, inherently, if you’re going to be here and work in NXT, you just kind of get used to the possibility of that happening.

There is a part of you that, after you continue to do it for a while, can at least do your best to get a feeling for things. And obviously, anytime you can reach out and get information, that’s extremely helpful.

But to your point, when it comes to something like an injury happening on the main roster, if they were going toward certain storylines and a major person went out, they need somebody in there and they just don’t want to make it out of another person on the roster who doesn’t feel important.

Yeah, I mean, they could pull out a person, and boom, they’re there, and then they’re done. And you don’t get an opportunity to finish up a storyline or something of that nature.

So, yeah, those are always real possibilities. You have to do your best to just kind of put those to the side.

I will say the one thing that kind of helps is that, again, with things like this, everybody kind of understands what NXT is now. And so we’re at least allowed to go out there and say, from a television standpoint, this happened, so-and-so was called up, and there you have it.

But we also have to have a backup plan when those things do happen. Look, we find ourselves scrambling a lot, but that’s the joy of the job, to be perfectly honest. Sometimes it’s kind of a fire drill. It’s tough sometimes, but it’s also exciting because it keeps you on your toes. That’s one of the things you gotta dig about the job.”
