Austin Creed says he thought about joining AEW while still working for WWE

While speaking with Phid McAwesome at PAX Australia, Austin Creed (formerly known as Xavier Woods) discussed whether he ever considered joining AEW while still working for WWE. Here is what Creed had to say…

“Yeah, definitely. Just to experience another style. There’s definitely a very specific WWE style and a very specific AEW style. Just a different style, and I think that for a long time, being seen in that way, people forget. So, if you’ve been watching wrestling a long time, you know I came up in the X Division.

So, this is what I was born to do, you know what I mean? It’s just refreshing to have the chance to move around like that again. And I think it’s great that there are two different styles. I think it’s great that people have options for what they want to watch and what they’re interested in.

For me as a performer, it’s nice to be able to do something different from what I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a different kind of fulfillment, you know what I mean? And so, to be able to be at AEW and have these matches with people that, yes, we have history with some people, some history with others, or no history with others—we’re meeting them for the first time. And there are some people who watched us when they were growing up and wanted to be wrestlers. That’s great.

You know, it’s crazy to think that I was always the young guy in the locker room, and now I’m definitely not. It’s been a really cool shift in just how how I’m able to look at wrestling now, and I’m really enjoying it.”
