Rey Mysterio almost retired from wrestling before his son Dominik debuted with WWE
While speaking to The Late Run, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio commented on if there was a time where he considered retirement from wrestling…
“I actually do remember a point in my life—not too long ago, maybe five or six years ago—when I just wasn’t getting that same emotion when I stepped into the ring.
I think my body was burnt out mentally and physically. I remember sitting down with my wife and telling her, ‘You know what? I don’t feel what I used to feel every time I stepped into the ring. I think I’m going to tap out. I just don’t feel it anymore.’
Shortly after that, my son [Dominik] told me that he wanted to try to break into the business. Seeing him and helping him get started kind of inspired me and reignited that fire once again.
And it’s been burning ever since.”
