WWE Hall of Famer says Chad Gable is “the best wrestler in the world” and doesn’t think it’s close

At Saturday night’s AAA Noche de los Grandes event at Arena Monterrey, the new El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kasier) defeated the original El Grande Americano. After the match, the original unmasked as Chad Gable.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer JBL commented on the match…

“Mexican fans are incredibly passionate. They love lucha libre, they love their stars, and they fully invest themselves in everything they watch. That’s what you saw at their very best. I also think you saw professional wrestling at its very best. I was absolutely blown away by what they accomplished in that match.

It’s a world of difference down there. Ludwig Kaiser created all of this by learning the language. Not only did he learn Spanish, but as we used to say in Texas, he wasn’t just learning Spanish—he was learning Mexican, meaning the local dialect and culture. What he’s done has been absolutely amazing.

When Chad first went down there, we were thinking about how easy it is to be a somewhat campy heel in WWE with the videos and the Varsity Club-type material. But trying to get genuine heat in Mexico is a completely different level. It’s not even the same business.

Chad had a match there with La Parka that was absolutely phenomenal, and it showed just how different that environment can be.

I mean, I think Chad Gable’s the best wrestler in the world and I don’t think it’s close. That was absolutely amazing what he and Kaiser did.”
