Report: How people within AEW feel about New Day potentially joining the company

On May 2nd 2026, it was reported that The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) mutually agreed to part ways with WWE. New Day are already scheduled to appear at GalaxyCon later this month, where they will be billed as Kofi and Austin Creed. According to Fightful.com, the duo has additional convention appearances already lined up that have yet to be announced, with both expected to be major attractions on the convention circuit.

As speculation continues about the pair potentially joining AEW, Fightful reported that more than a dozen AEW sources were unanimous in wanting them brought into the company. The outlet noted that it is uncommon for there to be complete agreement on incoming talent, as there is usually at least one differing opinion, but in this case support was reportedly universal.

Fightful added that several prominent names within AEW have been strongly advocating for Kofi and Creed to sign, noting that both are highly respected throughout the wrestling industry and that many within the business expect them to eventually land in AEW.
