Bill Goldberg addresses his retirement speech at Saturday Night’s Main Event being cut off
As seen during WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th 2025, world heavyweight champion Gunther defeated Bill Goldberg in what was Goldberg’s final match. Afterwards, Goldberg gave a retirement speech but only about 30 seconds of it aired on television.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Goldberg commented on his speech being cut off…
“I guess that was the ultimate rib. I’m not saying it was done on purpose by any stretch of the imagination. I’m saying it wasn’t prepared for on purpose, that’s all.
They wouldn’t do that to Undertaker, right? I don’t think. They’re not gonna do that to [John] Cena. Cena’s going around the world doing his retirement thing. Mine was just a World Heavyweight Championship match. To be honest with you, I had World Heavyweight matches all the time. That doesn’t do anything for me. I mean, it does, but make it different than just an angle, at least. At the end, do something. Say something. I don’t know. It just felt a little ‘eh’ for me, that’s all.” (quote courtesy of WrestlePurists.com)
