Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita called the greatest triple threat match in wrestling history

As seen during the 2024 AEW WrestleDream PPV event, Konosuke Takeshita defeated Will Ospreay and Ricochet to become the International champion. The match was critically acclaimed with Cagematch users giving it a 9.19 based on 507 votes.

Longtime wrestling analyst Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com gave the match a *****½ rating and wrote the following in response to people calling it the greatest triple threat match in wrestling history…

“I would call it that, given the general consensus on the best three-way match in history was the match that inspired this, the September 11, 2005, match with A.J. Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels. That was Ospreay’s favorite match when he was 12 years old and it was the blueprint for this match, with Takeshita in the Joe role as the heavy hitter and Ricochet and Ospreay being Styles and Daniels.”
