News regarding AEW announcer Taz being written off television

Prior to the October 2nd 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that AEW announcer Taz had been assaulted by a mystery attacker in the parking lot. Nigel McGuinness ended up replacing Taz on the commentary desk alongside Excalibur and Tony Schiavone. In a backstage promo, Hook vowed to get revenge on behalf of his father.

Earlier this year, Taz was informed that he needed knee and shoulder replacements. Following the angle that took place, Taz wrote the following message via Twitter/X…

“Unfortunately, I will be out for awhile. I’ll be having total knee replacement surgery very soon. Talk to you guys down the road.”
