Update on CM Punk’s in-ring status following the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank PLE

As seen during the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank PLE, Drew McIntyre cashed in his Money in the Bank contract that he won in the men’s ladder match. However, CM Punk ended up interfering and McIntyre’s attempt to win the world title was unsuccessful.

While speaking to media at the post-show press conference, Punk said the following about his in-ring status…

“I like to keep people in suspense. I will say I feel great and I’m ready to go, and there are things in place to protect me against myself that I maybe wish were in place ten years ago, but we don’t need to talk about the past. Great personnel, great facilities. I’m busting my ass to get back, if I can steal what John [Cena] was talking about, for the fans. Whether you hate me or love me, I’m coming back to enjoy all these moments that were robbed from me when I got injured. Shit happens. It’s a contact sport. It stinks. I’ve been working very hard to rush the rehab and come back. Everyone behind me has supported it, but they’ve also been like, ‘We’re not in a hurry.’ I love that.” (quote courtesy of Jeremy Lambert)

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com commented on plans for Punk’s return…

“So right now, it is not 100% as far as Punk and Drew at SummerSlam, I was told it is probable, and Punk was kind of asked about it. And he kind of beat around the bush. And he kind of said, I mean, it’s probably happening, but he kind of did say, It’s up to other people or whatever. He has to get cleared and everything by the doctors. I was pretty much told they’re pretty confident in it. But you can’t go and say 100% because it isn’t 100%. But yeah, that, you know, it’s been it’s been the hope. But it’s now more than a hope. Now, it’s the plan, you know, for Drew McIntyre and Punk for SummerSlam.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
