The X-Factor: The signs were there when it comes to Vince McMahon
“…he surrounds himself with glad-handing, nonsensical douchebag yes-men like John Laurinaitis who’s gonna tell him everything that he wants to hear. And I’d like to think that maybe this company will be better after Vince McMahon’s dead, but the fact is it’s gonna get taken over by his idiotic daughter and his doofus son-in-law and the rest of his stupid family! Let me tell you a personal story about Vince McMahon. All right. We’re doing this whole bullying campaign…”
One of these days, CM Punk might tell that story.
That line about Vince being dead? People were thinking that well before the promo. The signs were there people.
First, the culture he fostered. Anyone familiar with Tough Enough on MTV? Bob Holly beating up the late Matt Cappotelli? Bill DeMott, Benoit, Bradshaw, and the Undertaker also got away with a lot.
Palmer Canon is a name I’m sure no one remembers. He was brought in to represent “The Network” in 2005 as a f*** you to UPN for barring Muhammad Hassan. JBL and Benoit ran him out six months later just for existing. Mauro Ranallo, Daniel Puder, Amy Weber, Jim Ross, Rene Dupree, The Miz, Justin Roberts, and Ivelisse Vélez are just some of the victims of the backstage bullying. Even Mark Henry and The Rock.
Second, maybe you older fans remember why Edge was pushed? The affair with Lita that got Matt Hardy fired. Only the tip of the iceberg. It takes a man like Vince to reward someone for that.
The irony is, had they not pushed Edge, I wouldn’t have become a major Cena fan.
Third, the sociopathic behavior. Dear Lord!
Katie Vick. Eddiesploitation. Dr. Hiney. The Warrior DVD. The race-baiting. Backlash ‘06. Do you know who he booked as Shawn Michaels tag partner?
Vince continued Over the Edge.
How ‘bout the incest angle that got squashed? Need I say more?
Apart from Janel Grant, Rita Chatterton, and any other potential victims, there are others we should feel for. Shane, Marissa, Paul, Stephanie, Linda, and all six of her grandkids. None of them deserve to suffer for this. Triple H has spilled blood, sweat, and tears in the WWF/E where he’s spent most of his life, and now he could get the axe.
There’s also Kathy Colace. The Bella’s mother and married to John Laurinaitis.
I mean, the timing of Kevin Dunn’s quitting is no small coincidence. We don’t know who knew what. If they stayed quiet, they feared for their jobs or they were loyal. When the chips are down, loyalty won’t be worth a damn to some people. They could throw Vince under the bus to save their own ass.
Vince is done with WWE.
We can still think good thoughts. We’re on the road to Philadelphia. The story is two months away from ending.
Don’t mess with the X.
