Tag team that was released from WWE during the Covid-19 pandemic could be returning

The Authors of Pain were among several WWE acts that were released from the company in 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sources of Fightful.com were told that the AOP may have been secretly signed to WWE for months. It’s possible that the team was re-hired as far back as late 2022 before Vince McMahon came back and a halt was made on all signings besides new recruits. It was also noted that the internal travel list had AOP on the schedule in May.

PWInsiderElite.com also had news about AOP potentially resurfacing on WWE television along with their former manager Paul Ellering. It’s believed that AOP could be making some appearances soon for the NXT brand and there was reportedly talk at Tuesday’s NXT about them potentially returning next month.

Rezar and Akam are 29 and 30 years old respectively.
