Belief that CM Punk wants to make his return to AEW television following his recovery from injury
As previously noted, it’s believed that CM Punk could return from injury by April of 2023 but his AEW future remains uncertain following his backstage altercation with The Elite. Speculation has been fueled by comments CM Punk made on an Instagram post about Steve Keirn (former WWE star Skinner)’s book…
“Best book about a fascinating man in a strange business since Bret [Hart] wrote his book. Great story about Gator [Keirn] and Koko [B. Ware] fighting in the locker room and then [Jerry] Lawler drags em in the office the next day and they squash it. Fascinating.”
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com commented on the Instagram post…
“What it says is that he wants back in. Which we’ve already known, other people have said that too, that he’s looking to get back in. It’s up to Tony [Khan] and Tony’s gonna make a decision at some point. He [Punk]’s probably just about ready, if not ready already, from the torn triceps, so it is one of those things that he can do soon enough.” (quote courtesy of WrestleTalk.com)
There was more speculation about CM Punk’s status on Wednesday night as an AEW production truck with his face on it was covered up during the March 22nd 2023 edition of Dynamite. Some fans on Twitter have interpreted it as being “petty” while others believe it was intentionally done to get fans talking.
