Results of Sheamus’ open challenge at Wrestlemania Backlash 2021

Sheamus open challenge

* During the Wrestlemania Backlash 2021 Kickoff show, Sheamus issued an open challenge but said someone would have to beat him to earn a title opportunity. Ricochet accepted the challenge.

* Ricochet, who was wrestling in jeans, connected with a dropkick right off the bat but Sheamus was quickly able to gain the upper hand. Sheamus dominated the match for a while but then Ricochet was able to make a comeback.

* Ricochet got several nearfalls but Sheamus was able to pick up the victory with a knee strike. Sheamus cut a victory promo after the match but was then attacked by Ricochet. Ricochet put on Sheamus’ hat/jacket and fled the ring when Sheamus went after him.
