Update on Pat McAfee joining the WWE Smackdown broadcast team

In regards to Pat McAfee’s new role as a color commentator on WWE Smackdown, Justin Barrasso of SI.com is reporting that “the current plan is to let McAfee be himself on the air and avoid over-producing him.” Barrasso added that the news about McAfee joining Smackdown as part of the broadcast team is unrelated to the recent talent releases and the opportunity is something that McAfee has been seeking for a long time. McAfee is expected to continue with outside projects such as his podcast during his time on Smackdown.
