Reviews of every WWE “B” PPV event from 1996 including “Good Friends, Better Enemies”

Let’s discuss the WWE “B” PPV events from 1996. By this point, WWE was on a monthly pay-per-view schedule, and the company was facing strong competition from the WCW brand.

In Your House 6: Rage in the Cage (February 1996 – Louisville, KY)

One of the better In Your House events up to that point. Razor Ramon faced 1-2-3 Kid in a fun Crybaby Match, while Shawn Michaels beat Owen Hart to earn a WWE Title shot at WrestleMania 12.

The main event saw Bret Hart defeat Diesel in a steel cage match, setting up their WrestleMania storylines with Undertaker getting involved. A solid show overall.

In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies (April 1996)

A standout In Your House show. Vader defeated Razor Ramon in Ramon’s final WWE pay-per-view match before debuting on Nitro.

The main event, Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel in a No Holds Barred Match, was excellent — one of Michaels’ best matches of the era. Diesel used Mad Dog Vachon’s prosthetic leg as a weapon, and the bout culminated in a wild powerbomb through a table.

In Your House 8: Beware of Dog (May 1996 – South Carolina)

One of WWE’s most bizarre events due to a power outage caused by severe weather. Half the show took place in the dark, and the remaining matches were re-taped days later.

Notable matches included Savio Vega vs. Steve Austin in a strap match (Austin’s first major pay-per-view feud), and Shawn Michaels vs. British Bulldog for the WWE Title, which ended in a draw.

In Your House 9: International Incident (July 1996)

A weaker show overall. The main event saw Camp Cornette (Vader, Owen Hart, and British Bulldog) defeat Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, and Sid — a logical outcome, as it built up Vader vs. Michaels for SummerSlam. The undercard, however, was forgettable.

In Your House 10: Mind Games (September 1996 – Philadelphia, PA)

Held in ECW country, with ECW wrestlers in the crowd. The undercard was weak, but the main event — Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind — was phenomenal. Despite ending in a DQ, it remains one of the best matches of 1996.

In Your House 11: Buried Alive (October 1996)

The first-ever Buried Alive match between Undertaker and Mankind headlined the show. Steve Austin faced Hunter Hearst Helmsley in one of Austin’s earliest high-profile bouts — possibly the debut of his iconic glass-shattering entrance music.

Sid defeated Vader to earn a title shot, and overall it was a standard but historically significant show.

In Your House 12: It’s Time (December 1996)

Not a great event. It featured Undertaker vs. The Executioner, the fake Razor and Diesel vs. Owen Hart and British Bulldog, and a main event of Sid vs. Bret Hart — more of a setup for Sid vs. Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble than a true conclusion.
