Great build up for the WWE Wrestlemania 41 undercard

We have a month and a half before WWE Wrestlemania 41, which I just realized is on Easter weekend, and let’s just say things are starting to heat up.

I could talk about the buildup for the matches that are official, like John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes—who, quite frankly, has turned the world upside down—or the Tiffany Stratton vs. Charlotte Flair match, which finally seems to be starting. But I’d rather talk about the buildup for the matches that aren’t officially announced yet and maybe also some matches that I think will happen at Mania.

1. Orton vs. Owens

This is one of the matches that will clearly be booked on the Mania card, and the start of the feud has me intrigued. Orton coming to the aid of Zayn at Elimination Chamber, hitting the RKO, and hinting at the punt was a great way to kick things off. Orton’s promo on Friday was the perfect way to add fuel to the fire, and I can’t wait to hear Owens’ rebuttal and see where this feud takes us.

2. Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre

A lot of fans were disappointed about this match. They say it’s a nothing match and that Drew is beneath wrestling Damian at Mania. Personally, I don’t see it that way. Damian has proven that he can be a top player on the main roster. While his world title reign didn’t set the world on fire, he showed that he deserved the title and could carry himself as a world champion.

So here, you have two top-level talents in a match at Mania, and it started because Damian got the better of Drew at the Rumble and the Chamber PLE. The build will be very interesting going forward, as both are very physical and can cut top-level promos. So, at least for me, this isn’t a throwaway match—it’s one that I think will surprise a lot of fans.

3. Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins

While I get that this isn’t the best scenario for these three, this will be one of the best matches on the card and probably the main event of Night One. The buildup so far has been incredible, with Rollins showing his true colors and letting his hatred toward Punk and Reigns take over. Then you have the Punk/Reigns dynamic, which is really interesting, and I can’t wait to see how this will be integrated into the program.

Also, the fact that you have three of the best promo guys in the business right now means that, promo-wise, they will absolutely deliver. While this isn’t the ideal scenario for them, it will still be an awesome match to watch come Mania.

4. Naomi vs. Jade Cargill

I’m not a big fan of this, as I feel like Bianca should have been in this position instead of Naomi. Plus, if yesterday was any indication, the buildup will be unbearable to watch, as Naomi can’t act to save her life. Same with Bianca, who seems to be doing double duty this year, as she’s involved in both this feud and the title match on Raw.

Anyway, if this match isn’t a squash, then it’s likely where Bianca finally turns heel on Jade, setting up Bianca vs. Jade for the summer.

5. Pretty Deadly vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. DIY vs. Legado del Fantasma vs. Street Profits (Ladder Match for the WWE Tag Titles)

This seems to be where the whole tag title saga on SmackDown is heading, and I don’t mind it. All these teams deserve to be on the Mania card, and this will be a chaotic, car wreck-style match that gets people talking.

6. Jacob Fatu vs. Solo Sikoa

The slow burn for this feud has been great, and fans are eager to cheer for Jacob, who is going to be a big star in WWE. I’m really interested to see where this whole thing leads and what ultimately causes the split between Sikoa and Fatu.

As for the match, this will be one of the most brutal matches on the Mania card and will probably be the stepping stone that Fatu needs to reach the next level.

Now that I’ve covered the matches that already have some buildup and will likely be made official in the next few weeks, here are some potential matches that I think might fill out the Mania card.

7. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

At Elimination Chamber, they teased something between Alexa and Liv. They also teased that Alexa might be aligned with the Wyatts. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull the trigger on this and add Alexa to the Wyatts, leading to a feud with Judgment Day—specifically Raquel and Liv—which could result in the Women’s Tag Titles being defended at Mania.

8. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. LA Knight (U.S. Title Match – Stipulation TBD)

The way Knight won the title yesterday makes me think these two will have another match for the title at Mania. I could even see Nick Aldis stripping Knight of the title because of how the match ended, leading to another high-stakes clash. These two could deliver a great buildup.

9. Bron Breakker vs. Finn Bálor (IC Title Match)

Regarding the IC Title, I’m not 100% sure if they’ll go with a one-on-one match or a multi-man match, but I went with the singles match here because it’s the better option, in my opinion.

Finn has targeted Bron and the IC Title, setting up a great midcard feud. Plus, this would finally force Bron to choose a side and be a face. As for the match itself, it will deliver, and I could see this being the moment that elevates Bron into the upper tier of the card.

Conclusion

If all these matches are officially booked for the Mania card, this will be one of the strongest WrestleMania lineups in a while and a fun way to spend Easter weekend!
