WWE said to have “significant interest” in Ricky Starks amidst latest internet speculation

Amidst the rumors of Ricky Starks potentially leaving AEW for WWE when his contract expires, Twitter/X @WRKDWrestling posted a GIF of Ricky Starks on Tuesday night with no caption. This led to fan speculation about Starks potentially joining WWE and the account clarified that the GIF had nothing to do with the August 20th edition of NXT. Podcast host Jason Solomon then wrote the following in response to the GIF…

“As I just mentioned live on TNT, I’ve heard Ricky’s contract actually expired in July and he’s been a free agent. Or perhaps WAS a free agent. :)”

While there have been no confirmed reports of Starks’ departure from AEW, Corey Brennan of Fightful.com reported that there is “significant interest” from WWE NXT in bringing Starks to the brand whenever he becomes available. It was noted that Starks’ friends Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill have spoken highly about his abilities.
