WWE reportedly had to make last-minute changes to Smackdown due to LA Knight testing positive for Covid-19
As seen during the September 22nd 2023 edition of WWE Smackdown, a tag team match was set up for the Fastlane PLE. John Cena and a mystery partner will face Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso of the Bloodline. AJ Styles was originally going to be Cena’s partner but was brutally backstage attacked by Solo and Jimmy. Solo and Jimmy then took out Cena in the ring as Smackdown went off the air.
Jimmy @WWEUsos, @WWESoloSikoa and @JohnCena have all signed the contract for #WWEFastlane… ✍️
But, without a partner in Cena's corner, will this match still happen? 👀#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/Ijwihapzp2

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, there were plans for LA Knight to be involved in the final segment of the show and come to Cena’s aid. However, Knight was reportedly pulled from Smackdown due to testing positive for Covid-19 just before the show started and he had to leave the building. There had also been plans for Knight to team up with Cena in a dark match after Smackdown ended.
Fightful has confirmed with WWE sources and those to him that LA Knight tested positive for COVID just before WWE Smackdown, and had to leave the building.
