WWE has reportedly considered introducing a “Tribal Chief” championship for Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa
Last week, WWE announced Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa in a tribal combat match for the Netflix premiere of WWE RAW on January 6th 2025. According to Twitter/X account @WrestleVotes, “sources indicate WWE has discussed introducing a Tribal Chief Championship into the storyline between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, similar to the People’s Championship presented to The Rock at WrestleMania earlier this year.”
Fans responded to the post with criticism. User @JDfromNY206 wrote, “Why introduce something that has no significance to anyone else, won’t be defended, and they already have the ‘Ula Fala’? Is Dwayne mudding up creative before WrestleMania already?”
@WrestleVotes responded with, “Don’t think this has anything to do with Rock but maybe they’ll take a look at the comments and reconsider… 😑”
While speaking on WrestleVotes Radio via Sportskeeda.com’s Backstage Pass Patreon, the following was said about the concept…
“So, according to a well-placed source, there is an idea to add a Tribal Chief Championship title to the fold between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa inside their rivalry. We are told the main event for Raw on Netflix will remain for control of the Ula Fala, but to expect an actual Tribal Chief Title belt to be added to the story at some point soon. Details were sparse in regards to a timeline, whether the title comes on January 6 or at some point afterwards, as a way to keep the program going between the two, obviously, there are rumors of Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa at WrestleMania. This Tribal Chief Championship would be similar to the people’s title that was presented to The Rock by Muhammad Ali’s widow at the Hall of Fame this past April, and he carried throughout WrestleMania last year.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
