WWE Hall of Famer JBL on criticism of the Wrestlepalooza PLE: “People love to be negative”

While speaking on the Something To Wrestle podcast, WWE Hall of Famer JBL addressed criticism of the Wrestlepalooza PLE

“I saw some of the negative stuff out there. I think, you know, people love to be negative. Dracula is the second most sold book behind the Bible and reviews when it came out were horrible. So I think reviews—reviewers have always been negative and and I just think that’s what people—you know, you sound smart when you’re negative. You don’t sound smart when you’re positive. So, I think that’s a part of it. I think it’s a terrific start for WWE [on ESPN]. I think it’s gonna be huge.”

“Sometimes I think they conflate that they’re disappointed with their guy didn’t win. Also, and so I think that’s part of it as well. You know, they wanted a John Cena feelgood moment and it doesn’t happen. If you’re doing this for new fans, you know, Brock [Lesnar]’s going to apparently be around a while and he is the beast, and you’re going to go forward with him. I have no idea what their plans are, but I think the the business decision is to put the guy over that’s going to be staying there. And John is a guy that you know, I think you could have guessed this. John has always been a very giving guy. Maybe too much sometimes. I don’t think so in this case, but he’s always been that guy.”
