Why John Cena could end up missing the 2021 WWE Summerslam PPV
There have been rumors in recent weeks that John Cena will challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at the 2021 Summerslam PPV.
However, there is now doubt that Cena will be able to appear due to his new movie role that was just announced. According to Variety.com, Cena is part of an all-star cast for Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn’s new film franchise Argylle. It was noted that shooting for the first film of the spy thriller series will begin next month in Europe. The official start day for shooting is unknown but if it’s before Summerslam, there will be issues such as Covid-19 protocols that will possibly prevent Cena from being able to appear on WWE television in the United States. Another factor would be an insurance policy that would not allow Cena to wrestle and risk production of the film being delayed.
Cena recently confirmed that he would be returning to WWE at some point in the future but didn’t indicate when that would be.
