What is being said about WWE’s plans for Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee storyline leading into WrestleMania 42

As seen during the February 9th 2026 edition of WWE RAW, Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee for the women’s Intercontinental title was announced for the Elimination Chamber PLE. WrestleVotes Radio previously reported that Becky vs. AJ was viewed as one of the more “locked-in” matches for the WrestleMania 42 card.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com addressed the plans…

“They had their story to set up the thing. I was expecting this match at Mania, but I was told that there’s a reason it’s here and the story goes until Mania, so it all plays out. I was basically told, you know, I thought this was going to be at Mania, and it’s like, ‘Don’t worry, it all plays out to get there.’

I think that since they still did it tonight, they probably aren’t going to change whatever this plan is today. It probably won’t be changed this week. Maybe next week. Who knows?”
