Update regarding Carlito reportedly signing a new contract with WWE following Backlash appearance

As seen during the 2023 WWE Backlash PLE, Carlito made a surprise appearance during the Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest match.

In recent weeks, it has been rumored that Carlito signed a new contract with WWE. PWInsiderElite.com heard from multiple WWE sources that the July 7th edition of Smackdown at Madison Square Garden was the targeted date for Carlito’s official return to the company.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following while talking about Carlito’s match against Intelecto 5 Estrellas at WWC’s 50th anniversary show in Puerto Rico on June 24th…

“The fans really wanted Carlito to win, but since he just signed with WWE, he couldn’t. Intelecto is very good for this level but fans were into the old-timers so he wasn’t over. Carlito got a standing ovation after the kissed the ring and Savinovich did tease his going to WWE.”
