Update on the Lucha Brothers potentially joining WWE once their AEW contracts expire
It was reported earlier this week that sources in AEW expect The Lucha Brothers (Penta and Rey Fenix) to leave the company when their contracts expire. According to Fightful.com, those spoken to have said that AEW wanted to re-sign the team but the process kept getting delayed. Over the past few weeks, it reportedly became evident to the company that the duo weren’t looking to sign new deals.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, the internal belief within AEW is that both Penta and Fenix will be leaving the company for WWE when their contracts expire.
Fightful noted that there have been discussions internally within WWE about bringing Penta and Fenix into the company. Those spoken to believe that the duo want to be a package deal and would prefer to not start in NXT. There are claims from those close to the Lucha Brothers that they’ve been in talks with WWE already and that there is a preliminary offer on the table similar to what AEW was offering.
WWE has not commented on the matter as the Penta and Fenix remain under contract to AEW for the next month or so.
