Update on Jon Moxley’s injury and the finish of his match with Rey Fenix at AEW Dynamite
As seen during the September 20th 2023 “Grand Slam” edition of AEW Dynamite, Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to capture the International title.
According to Wade Keller of PWTorch.com, Moxley suffered a concussion during the pre-match brawl and it wasn’t due to a piledriver from Fenix. Keller noted that the finish changed to Fenix winning and explained what happened with the finish…
“Moxley apparently made the call during the match as Moxley knew something was wrong, but the referee wasn’t sure of the actual finish, thus the ref originally didn’t count to three even though Moxley didn’t lift his shoulder.”
Keller added that Moxley was diagnosed with a concussion after the match but isn’t expected to miss much if any ring time. It’s believed that Tony Khan and others immediately checked on Moxley when he returned backstage.
There is speculation that Moxley was possibly hurt from Fenix’s dive off the ramp…
Yeah, it looks like this Fenix dive was when Moxley got hurt. He lands on his head and he doesn't move right after it.
Insane that he still worked the whole match. pic.twitter.com/dlAJ9Bzjqo— Raion (@Raion74_) September 21, 2023
